Thank you for such a positive response to my News & Views Special Edition: Jobs! It was overwhelming as I heard from so many constituents who are looking for a job, or who know someone looking for work, who welcomed the list of employers who have open positions available. Because it was so useful to you, I have updated that list (including links) for your reference and use. It now represents nearly 2,600 available jobs in our region.

As you may know, my background is as a real estate broker. As a manager, I often told my staff that they had to sell themselves – and make people like them – in order to make a sale. I believe that is the case in a job search as well. It’s also about having the right tools and the information that is required of you. That is why I worked with the Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh to create the Skills for Success – The Fontana Series program. It provides job seekers with the tools and information that they need for their search, and makes them more comfortable in selling themselves to that potential employer.
