HARRISBURG, MAR. 3, 2009 -State Sen. Wayne D. Fontana today said assistance is now available in the form of rebates and low interest loans to Pennsylvania families who wish to make their homes more energy efficient

Rebates of up to $500 or low-interest loans are available to help homeowners purchase new energy efficient heating and cooling systems, programmable thermostats, water heaters, insulation, windows, doors, geothermal and “whole house” improvements using Home Performance with Energy Star, according to Fontana.

“Pennsylvania families are seeking any way possible to reduce costs,” said Fontana. “Applying for a rebate or low-interest loan is one way to reduce future energy costs, and I encourage any family considering energy efficient home improvements to take advantage of this assistance.”

The program is available to families with household incomes of up to $150,000 who are making qualifying improvements to their primary residences.
