HARRISBURG, MAY 14, 2009 – A new Web resource will allow individuals who apply for state-granted Property Tax or Rent Rebates to check the status of their applications online, according to state Sen. Wayne D. Fontana.

The new Web site, www.papropertytaxrelief.com, hosted by the Department of Revenue, provides applicants the opportunity to check their rebate status as soon as six weeks after submitting their application.

“Too often applicants are left waiting for months to find out the value of their award,” Fontana said. “This new Web site enhances customer service by allowing individuals to check the status of their application in a timely fashion. I encourage constituents to take advantage of this great new resource.”

To check the status of their rebate, Fontana said individuals must enter their Social Security number, anticipated rebate amount and date of birth. They can then obtain claim status confirmation, the actual amount of the rebate, and the date the rebate is expected to be mailed or direct deposited. Constituents can link to the new Web resource by visiting the Senator’s Web site, www.senatorfontana.com.

Applicants can also use an automated phone service to check their rebate status by calling, toll-free, 1-888-PATAXES.

Rebate checks will be distributed by the Department of Revenue beginning July 1, 2009.
