HARRISBURG, April 21, 2008 — State Senator Wayne D. Fontana is hosting a special baby fair this Saturday for new and expectant families.

Entitled “Hey Baby!” the free event will be held twice this Saturday, April 26 at Magee-Womens Hospital in Pittsburgh. The first session will run from 9 a.m. to noon. The session will then be repeated from 1 p.m. until 3:30 p.m.

Free boxed lunches will be provided for all who attend.

“Magee-Womens Hospital, Healthy Start, SIDS of PA and Baby Depot have partnered with me for this event to provide information on a variety of topics to keep your baby healthy for a lifetime,” Fontana said. “There will also be experts on hand from state agencies and regional organizations to answer questions and provide information.

“Moms, dads and grandparents are all invited to the baby fair!”

Fontana said there will be expert advice on a multitude of issues ranging from keeping your baby healthy and making your home safe to SIDS and Postpartum Depression.

Organizations providing information and advice include the: Allegheny County Department of Health’s Maternal & Child Health Program, Allegheny County Health Department Women, Infants & Children (WIC) Program, Baby Depot, Early Intervention Specialists, Inc./State Interagency Coordinating Council, Healthy Start, Inc., Hush Little Baby, Magee-Womens Hospital Healthy Community Program, Office of Child Development and Early Learning, state Department of Insurance, state Department of Public Welfare, and Sudden Infant Death Services (SIDS) of Pennsylvania.
