BROOKLINE, November 8, 2018 – Senator Wayne D. Fontana today announced a $300,000 state grant for Giant Eagle, Inc. to buy 20 compressed natural gas (CNG) trucks, saving more than 355,000 gasoline gallon equivalents per year.
“This grant program helps businesses convert to cheaper and more environmentally friendly fuels,” Fontana said. “I am pleased to see local businesses embracing alternative fuel opportunities and will continue to seek state support to encourage such efforts.”
The grant, which is administered by the state Department of Environmental Protection, helps businesses replace older vehicles with cleaner natural gas and electric-fueled vehicles. The Giant Eagle grant was one of 18 grants announced statewide today.
